14 Weeks Out: The Wedding Tuxedo Timeline

The Definitive 14-Week Wedding Tuxedo Timeline: A Guide to Bespoke Perfection

For the discerning groom, the wedding tuxedo is more than just attire; it is a statement of intent, a masterpiece of craftsmanship, and the cornerstone of his wedding day presence. At BR Bespoke, we understand that achieving this level of sartorial excellence requires precision, patience, and a meticulously planned timeline. To ensure your custom tuxedo is nothing short of perfect, we recommend beginning the process at least 14 weeks before your wedding date.

Weeks 14-12: The Initial Consultation and Design Selection
Your journey begins with a private consultation. During these initial weeks, you will meet with our master tailors to discuss the vision for your wedding. This is the time for foundational decisions: selecting the silhouette (single-breasted vs. double-breasted), lapel style (peak vs. shawl), and, most importantly, the fabric. From luxurious Italian wools to sumptuous velvets, your choice here sets the tone for the entire ensemble.

Weeks 10-8: Fabric Sourcing and the First Fitting
Once your design is finalized, our artisans begin the intricate process of sourcing your chosen materials and constructing the ‘canvas’ of your garment. At the eight-week mark, you will return for your first fitting–often referred to as the ‘basted fitting.’ This is where the magic starts to take shape, allowing us to evaluate the proportions and initial drape of the tuxedo on your frame.

Weeks 6-4: The Second Fitting and Refining the Details
As we approach the six-week mark, the tuxedo is nearing completion. During the second fitting, we focus on the finer details: the precise length of the trousers, the exact show of cuff from your shirt, and the contour of the waist. This is also the ideal time to select your bespoke shirt and coordinating accessories, such as studs, cufflinks, and your bowtie.

Week 2: The Final Fitting and Perfection
Two weeks before you say ‘I do,’ you will join us for the final fitting. At this stage, the tuxedo should fit like a second skin. We perform a final, rigorous quality check to ensure every stitch is perfect and every line is clean. Any minor adjustments are made immediately to guarantee absolute comfort and confidence.

Wedding Week: Final Pressing and Collection
In the days leading up to your wedding, your tuxedo receives a final hand-pressing. When you collect your garment, it will be wedding-ready, housed in a protective BR Bespoke garment bag. By following this 14-week timeline, you eliminate last-minute stress, allowing you to focus on the celebration ahead, knowing your appearance is handled with the utmost care and luxury.
